Last summer my friend and I went to India for 5 weeks, we left in July and stayed till August. Neither of us had been travelling before and so we set off just the two of us and flew into the belly of the beast, New Delhi. Delhi was a real culture shock, yet we survived a couple of days there, before we headed off to Jaipur, the pink city. From here we headed to Jodhpur, the blue city, Udaipur, where Octopussy was filmed, a fact the locals are very proud of, with each hotel showing a video of the film each night, we both enjoyed watching the film during our dinner. We then headed to Jaisalmer for a camel safari in the desert, before heading to Goa. In Goa we wandered the beaches, which were a little deserted as it was monsoon season. From Goa we headed to Kerala where we spent the last of our trip visiting the tea farms, seeing the Chinese fishing nets in Fort Kochi, and drifting along the backwaters on a house boat. The final part of our exploration of India was a three day train trip back to Agra to see the Taj Mahal, which we couldn’t leave India without seeing it! These are just a few of the pictures from our trip that I took on my phone, but I also took my Mini Diana Lomo and plenty of film. Despite it being over a year since I’ve been back I still haven’t had my films developed, mainly due to poor organisation and the extortionate prices I was quoted. But I am going to have to bite the bullet and go get them developed, as I am desperate to see all of my photos! And then I will be able to do some more detailed posts on my time in India.
