IMG_0441My all time favourite blog to read is Cupcakes and Cashmere. I love the variety of content included and that every post and the whole site has a polished clean look. This year the author has started compiling seasonal to-do lists and with December starting on Sunday I started thinking about the things I fancy doing this Winter. Winter is always a busy season, with Christmas filled with family, New Years followed by both my parent’s birthdays in January, mine and the boyfriend’s in February and before you know it Spring has arrived. Therefore I am going to make sure I get the most out of the season, here are the things I am planning to try out this year.

  1. Learn to knit a jumper.
  2. Wear more lipstick.
  3. Complete a 30 day photography project.
  4. Spend a day catching up with my old housemates.
  5. Host a wine tasting party.
  6. Plan a summer get away.
  7. Take day trips to explore more of the local area around my university.
  8. Start making my own clothes again.
  9. Learn to make the perfect Old Fashioned and other whiskey based cocktails.
  10. Master 3 different pie recipes, both sweet and savoury.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI mentioned on Monday that while I was at home I went on a brief shopping trip with my friend Florrie. We both have a habit of everytime we are together in our home town of just popping into this boutique and nearly every time at least one of us leaves with something. This visit it was me that couldn’t resist whipping out my purse in order to purchase this peacock embroided shirt. I have so many black items of clothing so I love it when I find ones that have little details that make them different. I wore the shirt with high shine leggings, cut out boots and a man’s cardigan for my busy day of lectures and running about on campus. Due to my busy day and the very limited day light hours we now have, I was forced to try and capture my outfit in the room with the best lighting possible, the landing. Luckily I was home alone during this time so nobody caught me awkwardly trying to capture both peacocks, though a helping hand may have resulted in some better pictures. I must invest in a tripod!

This weekend I visited my family at home. It was a lovely weekend but over far too fast, two nights and two days never seems enough. That being said I managed to fit in a trip to the cinema, breakfast at the local deli with my best friend, followed by a short shopping trip, a quiet night in with wine and whiskey, before cooking the family Sunday dinner and going on a walk to the pub. Sadly I was not in complete blogger mode this weekend and so the number of pictures I have from the weekend are limited down to just those from the walk. But at least I remembered I had my camera for some of the time and here are some of the photos of the boyfriend, his dog Nora and my brother, though it is hard to get a good shot of Nora as she never sits still! We headed out early on Sunday afternoon on a walk down the old railway line to a pub located a few villages over. The weather wasn’t up to much, though luckily the drizzle didn’t turn into anything more substantial. We arrived at the pub and then settled ourselves into comfy armchairs for a swift pint before heading back to make the dinner. Lucky Nora was allowed to join us in the bar area and was even treated to a few doggy biscuits on offer. Now I am back at uni and have only three weeks left of term before I head home for Christmas, meaning a lot deadlines and work. But it will be worth it to have a nice relaxing Christmas.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThis weekend I am heading home to see my boyfriend and my family. I am driving back tonight in order to miss the Friday night rush hour on the motorways. So while I wait for the time to pass I thought I would share with you the items that I am taking home with me. I am currently trying to get better at packing light, since I am away for New Years and am only allowed to take carry-on luggage. I have tried to plan my outfits around what I have planned; tonight when I get home we are going to try to catch a film at the cinema, tomorrow I am having a catch up with my best friend who is also home for the weekend, before going to the pub in the evening and then Sunday will hopefully be a lazy day before I have to return back to uni in the evening. In order to keep things easy I have based each outfit either around my high-waisted black jeans or my black leggings. I have packed several nice going out tops that can either be worn in the day or the evening, along with a few pieces of jewellery to complete the outfit. A big knit is essential this time of year as the weather has turned so cold, with a very bitter wind blowing pretty much constantly. Along with my make up I am also taking home a few essential hair products such as hair spray and some texture spray and my perfume. While my bag currently seems very light I know that I will no doubt end up chucking in a couple of casual tops, more toiletries and various other things that catch my eye. I am also debating taking some uni work home with me, as I really should do some work, the iPad is ready to pack but I feel I should take some folders of notes too. One thing I will be sure to pack is my camera, my big scarf and my new check coat. After much debating I decided to buy the check coat from Zara which I featured on my Winter Coat post and I am so pleased with my decision I love it. Well I had best go check I have everything packed and ready to go, I hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Here is what I am travelling in… I know a lot of people say to avoid taking selfies in the mirror but it has worked for the Hot Milk girls so I thought why not, besides it’s too cold to stand outside and take photos today. Maybe I will do a proper outfit post soon…
